Overview

This spintronic transistor is a voltage-controlled resistor. The higher the voltage on the top sprocket, the lower the resistance of the bottom sprocket. Transistors greatly expand the range of circuits that can be built. They are a critical part of many analog circuits and are ubiquitous in digital circuits.

Detailed description

The transistor can be manually adjusted to control whether the transistor turns on by turning the top sprocket (the gate) clockwise or counterclockwise. The transistor is fully on with a gate voltage of approximately 1.5 spin volts. Gate charge is 2.2 millispin coulombs.

Brian H. ★★★★★

Finally got this voltage-controlled resistor working in a small test circuit—the way the top sprocket voltage directly lowers bottom resistance is incredibly responsive. Makes tuning way more precise than I expected.

Andrew X. ★★★★★

Slapped this into my breadboard rig and the resistance curve tracks the top sprocket voltage way more smoothly than the old setup. Dialing up the gate voltage drops the bottom sprocket resistance exactly like the spec sheet says, no weird jumps.

Robert ★★★★★

Didn't expect a voltage-controlled resistor to behave this linearly, but the resistance on the bottom sprocket drops smoothly as I raise the voltage on the top one. It's been a solid little extra part for my bench setup.
